Trivia

  • Vertigo: Paul Mantz, Jr, relates that his father had a hard time looking off a high bridge or out of a tall building. It would give him vertigo. However, with the feel of an aircraft — the power and the wings as they provided lift — all vertigo would cease. Perhaps one of the unique things about Paul Mantz is that he could feel one with the aircraft — it gave him a sense of what he could and could not do. This intuition probably saved his life countless times.

  • Favorite Number: 46; for the 46 consecutive outside loops that jump started his career.
